General Skoch, announced challenger to U.S. Representative John Boozman in the 2010 Republican primary, is not only running for Congress, but he is running to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the annual Walt Disney World Marathon.
In spite of freezing temperatures, more than 23,000 runners lined up for the marathon Sunday morning. The 26.2 mile route winds through all four of Walt Disney World’s theme parks.
"I have never run a race in weather this cold," said Bernie Skoch, prior to the start of the marathon.
In spite of the hardships of temperatures in the 20's at the start of the race, 58 year old Skoch completed the marathon in about 4 hours, 54 minutes, putting him solidly in the top third. After finishing the race, Skoch stated, "What a blessing to have a body that lets me do things like this. I was thankful the race organizers recognized all the military members at the start of the race. What an incredible event."
